A bayou is a side-arm of a river in a manner that is typical for riverbeds near the northern shore of the Golf of Mexico. Inhabitants of regions like Louisiana commonly refer to "the bayou" like to their backyard and often have a good number of stories to share about what they learned there.

The Bayou page info concept refers to an in-tab solution for showing page info in the web browser.

This variant would be displayed inside the same browser tab as the page in question, either above or below the page itself, in a manner like and potentially sharing the implementation with the Firebug add-on or the Firefox 4 web developer console, and it would display the same views there as the current page info does in its own window.
